Cantonese for Foreigners (Elementary Level 1)

This course is organized for the non-Cantonese speaking students. Its main purpose is to teach the most frequently used words, sentences, and Hong Kong culture. Through acquiring skills in speaking Cantonese, students can communicate better with the local people.

Objectives:

1. To master the Cantonese sound system
2. To be able to use basic Cantonese for daily communication
3. To learn elements of Hong Kong culture

Topics:
Greetings, introducing oneself, asking directions, shopping, ordering food and drinks, making phone call, etc.

Target learners: beginners
Duration: 12 weeks, 2 hours every week
Medium of instruction: English and Cantonese.
Maximum course enrolment: 30

本課程為中大外籍學生而設，讓他們會聽會說簡單香港日常用語及了解本地文化。通過各種生活情境，配合互動教學方式，學生可以輕輕鬆鬆地學習，更有效跟本地人溝通。

課程內容：

1. 認識粵語基礎拼音知識
2. 學習常用詞彙及語法
3. 了解香港文化
                            
授課對象：對粵語有興趣的初學者
