Before taking up the Director post at the ILC, I worked as Principal Lecturer/ Associate Head in the Division of Language Studies at the City University. I have been teaching English at the tertiary level for over 23 years. My special areas include business communication, teaching English as a second language, translation from Chinese to English and teacher training.
Apart from presenting papers in conferences, I have written some books related to language teaching. They include: “Oral English for HKCEE” (1995), “Writing at the Certificate Level” (1997, 2000), “Reading Skills” (1996), “Business Communication” (2003), and “Practical English Writing” (2005).
Since the ILC is an independent learning centre serving both undergraduate and post-graduate students, it is my hope that more updated print and multimedia resources for enhancing language learning can be added to its current collection so that students can have access to useful materials. In addition, through introducing the Award Scheme for Independent Learning, I would like to encourage more students to participate in workshops and make full use of the ILC materials for improving their language proficiency.
