Catherine learned from the unhappy experience of this interview that
much care is needed in writing the letter of application. When she wrote
hers she was thinking only of pointing up her strengths and getting
an interview - and these are of course both important. She overlooked the
fact that at the interview she might be asked to produce clear and convincing
evidence in support of her claims In future before she says that a job she
did offered her good learning opportunities she will think about possible
answers to the question what exactly did you learn? If she claims
to learn rapidly, or to interact easily with people from vary varied backgrounds,
she will think ahead to awkward questions likehow do you know ? what
evidence have you for saying this ?
