Biography
Upon graduation from the University of Hong Kong with a BA degree in Linguistics, Althea worked in a professional accounting firm and several investment banks. With an interest in professional discourse, she went back to her alma mater and obtained a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics. Before joining the ILC, Althea taught academic English at HKU SPACE. She currently also works as a materials writer for an inter-university UGC project about postgraduate engineering students’ writing. Her research interests include corpus analysis, ESP, professional discourse, and technical vocabulary.
