Biography

After receiving her BA (Hons) in Language and Communication and Certificate in Education (major in English), Yvonne studied MA in English Language Teaching at the University of Warwick (UK) and later completed her Ph.D with the Department of English, City University of Hong Kong.  Prior to joining the Independent Learning Centre of CUHK, Yvonne worked at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and two other local universities.  She has been involved in teaching research postgraduates Thesis Writing, and MA students applied linguistics courses including Research Methods and Vocabulary Teaching & Learning. Yvonne has also taught undergraduate English enhancement courses for many faculties such as Business, Dentistry, Education and Engineering.  Yvonne’s academic and research interests include English for academic/specific purposes, writer identity, vocabulary learning and independent learning.
